Playa Blanca will be closed the 1st and 2nd of November; Commercial and tourist activities in the area return this Thursday, November 3.

The purpose is to clean up the area, train tourism service providers, and mitigate the damage caused to the ecosystem. The measure was agreed with the six community councils of Baru Island.

The activity is successfully developed in accordance with Decree 1458 of October 19, 2022, which provides that two days of each month inter-institutional days will be held in this insular area of Cartagena.

Gastronomy

The fish platter with patacón and coconut rice is one of the best typical dishes in Cartagena. Extra points if you order it with lobster.

Fried Fish Tray

This is a typical dish of the Colombian Caribbean coast. In the different places (restaurants or beaches) they offer different fish options, among these we find mojarra, sierra, red snapper and snook. Each person chooses the fish according to their taste, size and cost. The fish is fried until it is golden brown and crispy. It is usually served with white or brown coconut rice, patacones or tostones as it is called in other places and salad.

The Free State of Cartagena created on this day was the first functional independent state in the future Republic of Colombia.

Since then, November 11 in Cartagena has been a holiday to celebrate this important historical event for the city and the country.
